Was recently asked how we make color choices for our sculptures and fabrication work and what inspires them. This photo explains about 60% of the color choices we make, it's the things around us that make it into your work. The Dandelion is in a holding pattern in Tyler Texas until it finds it's forever home. Got to see the old studio at UT Tyler. This is such a home away from home, just missed you Dewane catch you next time. Doing the public art mambo today to get some paperwork in on time and ready to take a crack at some large new projects. Headed back to San Antonio early in the morning. Tyler always drags us in for an extra day somehow.

Saw this young buck this morning and he was tame as a dog! San Antonio has more deer that they know what to do with and yet not a shot can be fired. Working on public art today and sketching a new round of sculptures that have been on the back burner for way to long.

This is a pic of me in San Antonio a while ago using a power hammer or air hammer at UTSA. At that point in time I could not find enough fine art uses for this machine to want one but with several sculptural pieces I'm working on and are going to need enough hammer blows on an anvil that this would be a welcomed addition to the shop. Asked some blacksmith friends and I think we will go with a different model but same overall idea. Waiting till winter to get into that. Also here is a pic of us transporting the Dandelion to the Texas State Fair Dallas.

If we are renaming holidays now, we at Wanderlust Ironworks are calling this Morale Monday. A warm Monday in San Antonio now means indoor gokarting for all ( Autumn & I ) our employees paid for by the company. Racing against your spouse is fun stuff. Fabrication resumes tomorrow!

Nice weekend at Enchanted Rock and that was a much needed break but today back in the studio, onward and upward San Antonio. We got our aquaponic game on point this weekend also. We have herbs growing up top and sea glass we have picked up over the years in the bottom with the beta fish a mystery snail and so fitting, glass shrimps. Pretty much done with this industrial table with a reclaimed giant pulley I was kicking around recently and think we might have already sold it!

Rainy morning in San Antonio this morning and actually feels great out in the studio. Got this industrial gear table done today just need to clear coat. Autumn is here! and now she is going to help me get that table inside for some real pictures. Blacksmith hat on Monday for sculptural parts and pieces for another sculpture we are starting, going to run the forge until the propane freezes! Also here is a time lapse of us doing some production work.

Making a sculpture that has a large pill shaped piece as part of it and was wondering if we had any large metal pills laying around, turns out this was actually a suppository. San Antonio seems much cooler today and so thankful for that! Blacksmith activity coming soon for the next sculpture.

Got here early this morning and showed some super nice kids what we do around the shop and then got to work on a large gear table and some other industrial furniture decor. Made some industrial bookends and cleaned up the legs for a live edge table. San Antonio was cool this morning besides the blacksmith part of the morning. Its refreshing to build furniture items that weren't pre ordered, just get to be creative with it.

Started today off with a little industrial decor gear book ends on this fine San Antonio morning. Now its sculpture time. Going to show a customer and her kids how the metal working process works and let them hit some stuff with a hammer this morning also. She home schools her kids so today is like a mini field trip! How fun!

Done with more antique custom remade car parts! This was our last "functional pre order" projects for a while as we are now focusing on more creative pursuits. Working now on public art project and making sculptures as that is the whole point of this business in the first place. We will be doing some creative one off wrought iron and industrial furniture pieces as well. Hopefully done with using the forge for production blacksmith items until the heat has left San Antonio Texas.
