Found pics of a real neat antique saw a client wanted restored fully with color matched paint from the 1930's. Then we put some blue streaked pine on it and made a conversation piece entry table. Also did a custom size light fixture chandelier for their dining room table. Also this week was this simple burner stand for our client to be able to cook a massive paella on.
Custom media cabinets, custom dining table with smoke grey glass, live edge wood, coffee table, custom vent hood.
We made some custom barstools this week with brass foot bars. We did a bit of hammered copper for a project and some hammered table legs for a huge reclaimed wood dining table that will be over 10 feet long! Doing some measuring for a future project at a beautiful family ranch. We even did a custom table base legs for an equestrian center thats being built. This is a beautiful luxury place to enjoy riding horses out in the country.
Got some of these indestructible shoes and they are amazing! These are like lightweight mesh running shoes with a steel toe for safety and a rubber soul that is just well indestructible. We worked yesterday on the vintage airstream restoration project with Andy and got some good stuff done on it out of thick aluminum. We are working on some hanging steel luxury daybeds for lounging on the back porch or outdoor kitchen. Also working on some reclaimed wood dining tables.
Our custom blue steel bookshelf is done! The feet are self leveling and the shelves are adjustable. We guess that it will hold 1500 lbs of stuff. We can make you a shelf system of any size or configuration!
Got a shot of our last sculpture to go downtown. The guys that did the lights threw a spot on this one and so now you can see the Kidney shadow on the building from up on the highway at night. Just got done with our super heavy duty industrial urban loft style bookshelf. This bookshelf has some automotive bolts that can rotate and wobble in any direction so the feet are now self leveling no matter how uneven the floor. This would make a nice storage shelf system for an outdoor kitchen that's on rock or uneven outdoor ground.
Our friends that run an electrician shop out of our building next door now make local hand crafted wines called Whisper Path Cellars. Its fun to see them crushing grapes one season, washing wood barrels the next and then onto bottling. We are wrapping up a custom steel industrial style book shelf with adjustable height shelves in it. Wait till the crazy feet go on it, its going to be a neat one. We are also making a pile of thick industrial C-channel custom table bases as well this week.
Made a custom blue steel hot rolled vent hood or range hood as some call it. So happy to see a perfect fit at the install. We can make a custom metal vent hood of any style just let us know how we can jazz up your new kitchen or kitchen remodel. Interior designers take not we can do these in any dimensions. We also are making a pile of custom sized table bases and table legs custom welded. We are on a major custom metal furniture kick San Antonio! Let us know your project from custom shelves to dining tables and we will get you a design and a price. We also made some custom hiking and digging tools this week that are great for trail hikes and camping if you want some custom gear.
Custom dining table we did recently for our friends. This is a farmhouse or trestle dining table with a matching wood beam. This specific one was in maple and steel. We are also working on some rail panels for the San Antonio Riverwalk and will be done at the end of the month.
First up we built a custom matt black steel granite support for a hybrid dining table and kitchen island with a huge piece of granite on it. Working lately with NR Interiors Nicole Winmill and has the best taste of any designer we have worked with if you looking for a designer. Next we got a bunch of x shape bench seating legs and bases done this week. We also almost have another farm trestle style steel table base and hard maple top dining table done except for the wood beam that goes on the base. Also some more shots of one of our custom cabinets that was a liquor cabinet. We can do these custom metal cabinets in any configuration and with a wood and steel combo as well with free delivery to our San Antonio clients and a free custom built shipping crate to anywhere else in the United States. Built a custom cabinet this week for our friends at the Magnolia Pancake Haus. We are also working on an industrial gear bench to match a table we had already built. Custom Maple dining table we are making for some friends is coming together. Also one of our custom rock gabion mailbox creations.
Tig was helping us wrap up fabrication on our latest large sculpture. We are about done on the next sculpture we are building. Getting set to drag it downtown and give it one last go over before we bolt it in. We created this for a Kidney hospital downtown and it will be light up at night if front of the building. Starting to see why people love to sculpt with stainless steel. Its very touchy as far as how clean you have to keep it and keep it away from regular steel or you will end up with rust marks! Not many people know this but stainless steel can rust if not treated properly, its stainless not stain proof. Lots of time on the back porch reading and hanging in the hammocks. The City Of San Antonio had us measure for a neat handrail we are building for the Riverwalk the other day and we saw no one down there, good job keep it up SA! Also found some pics of custom planters we did a while ago and a hammered gold leaf coffee table that pairs old world blacksmith forging and modern furniture custom. One industrial bench / custom coffee table we are designing for a client out of reclaimed industrial parts. Also one industrial table we did for Scaleworks a while ago when they opened. We got our most recent large sculpture project installed at our clients private residence and it turned out great! The client had lights installed before sunset that day and the night time illumination is better than we would have thought. The welded lifting tabs to get the disc into the property were going to stay at the request of the client, he thought they were cool but we have all since decided to come back and cut them off for a more streamlined modern minimalist look. We are laying low and working mostly from home and playing with LEGOS quite a bit as well as cooking. Some cool WW2 era plane seats and an artillery box we picked from a cool junk store. We are going to restore them and leather upholster them and they are going in our house. Also some gears we are making into a bench seat for a dining table we sold years ago. We are almost done with the new stainless steel sculpture for downtown San Antonio. And last a new cabinet for one of our favorite clients. Done with our template for a new stainless steel sculpture about 10ft tall. We got to see our cousin play at the Alamo Donme in the Texas State UIL basketball championship. We dive a little deeper into our new building and discover that we in fact are the proud owners of three kinds of retro wall paper and a VIP toilet phone in the Executive wash room but also our building was apparently the entrance to SUPER PARTY 1991!!!!
A couple of old pics and some new projects we are in right now. Updates soon!
Just knocked out another batch of custom dining chairs. We got several custom steel table bases done as well, one is for some of our friends dining room. Also a sofa table or sideboard as its also called with an industrial base and live edge mesquite top we did a while back. Also been testing new handles out for some of our custom steel cabinets we are about to make for a wedding venue here in San Antonio. This was a hand forged dragon scale pattern that is used on blacksmith pieces and knives.
We just got done moving some super heavy 6000lb granite sculptures by Jesus Moroles. He was an amazing and super kind sculptor from Texas that I had the pleasure of hanging with on several occasions and have always looked up to him as an artist and all around good guy. It all went down easy with a 10,000 forklift and two flat bed 18 wheelers we got them all moved to a public park here in San Antonio.
Our friend and client Yuri Tsuzuki came down to the Alamo City last week and took over the studio. She was such a pleasure to work with and we ended up making a one of a kind 12 foot tall stainless steel sculpture with her for a custom sculpture commission. We learned a ton of new tricks we didn't know our pipe rolling machine could do and several other eye opening techniques. She will be back in a month or so to help with the install at the clients home. Between her use of neat metallic color and butterfly imagery we think it turned out great! Also we ourselves got a new public art commission that we will have complete by next month. This piece will be another large custom stainless steel sculpture around 14 ft with the concrete base. Its going in the front of a new Kidney Hospital downtown near the riverwalk. The piece resembles a contemporary heart and kidney and will be brilliant polished stainless steel with lighting all around it at the base. Also a custom steel table base for a client we have in San Diego. And last a pic of one of our reclaimed wood tables with a custom metal base.
Getting ready for Christmas around the studio and wrapping up some projects. We are currently living at the studio in a borrowed RV and loving the 10 second commute! Our next big project over the holiday break is to set up our all new wood shop. Our big announcement for the end of the year is that we bought the building we have been renting for 5 years. We will now have a large showroom/gallery and separate wood and metal shops doubling our square footage and also now have a huge gated and locked storage space for all your big long term projects like sculpture restoration and sandblasting. We wish everyone a very happy holiday for this year.
A custom conference table frame that will have a huge 5 foot wide top and built in leather stools, some hammered steel edging for a series of countertops and will have solid brass rivets. Also a throwback custom light fixture we did for a San Antonio client. We have a pile of neat trick woodworking tools headed our way and will be getting a bit more tricky with the wood end of what we do, this will add to the unique nature of what we do and make our skills much more versatile for furniture and art projects. Oh and one more shot of the hammered blacksmith style tree branch and root custom handrails we did a while back. |
