Just landed this sculpture at the wonderful new community in the Southside of San Antonio. The install went great and the area will have more public art sculptures to come. They even named a street after us!

Working on a commission for a new hotel coming to San Antonio. This sculpture will hang overhead and have several layers including the San Antonio river and parts of the downtown map. We are working on a body of work all about the river systems here in San Antonio and this just happened to be the one that grabbed the people at this hotel's attention. We are getting to use stainless and copper along with some unique glitter and colored polycarbonate panels. Also getting the next phase of the Bloom project wrapped up for an installation soon. We installed the gold leaf sculpture table, and the Ibeam table. Went to a concert and got to race go karts before hand and it was a riot! Jack Johnson and Ziggy Marley concert was amazing and the weather got cool from a storm nearby! About to start some new custom sculpture works for the gallery and get it air conditioned so people will hang out for more than 30 seconds.
Sebastian sculpture repair and restoration, tons of new custom tables, experimenting with some new personal art projects for a public art proposal. We finally got our apartment built and finished and have officially moved in! We love being in our studio 24 hours a day and don't miss the commute. We are about to start a major overhaul of a Sebastian sculpture that was gifted to one of the local hospitals. This has been waiting for two years for us to work on it and now the time has come. We will be welding and painting the whole thing and restoring it to its original state. It had some rust building up inside and we will put a hault to that! We have been studying and working and experimenting with some of our own art projects which is so rare due to the schedule we have been dealt lately. We also have been shipping furniture all over the country. The latest were two cone shape end tables with beautiful wood black walnut tops. We got to hang out at Sebastians sculpture studio here in san antonio and let me tell you that is like a candy store if you love large steel artworks!
Got to travel back to East Texas for a couple of days and spend some time sitting and looking at a pond and playing with dogs. What a recharge! We built some large sculptures recently and another one today. Charred some wood real good for a Shou Sugi Ban table with a sculptural base yesterday.
We are almost done with construction of our new art gallery. We are about to have our first show as a tester and cant wait to get it all going. We also have been working out the kinks on some chrome for a sculptures. Chrome is a funky thing to put on a sculpture with no past experience but its almost there.
Did a recent short run of custom furniture for our San Antonio and Austin clients. Now back to some of our current sculpture projects!Built some of our wood and steel custom furniture pieces recently as a change of pace. We are about to do a few vent hoods and in the meantime are doing some study projects in the studio and gallery with a new body of sculptural works. Getting the hang of the new CNC machine and we are so thankful we got a user friendly and intuitive system because these are complicated! Gearing up to do some sculpture models for approval on a few hotel projects also this week. If you need a cool set of stands and pedestals for sculpture or ceramics or any 3d art let us know. We are making some custom built I-Beam art fixtures that are starting to look pretty neat.
Spent the week working with our friends Mark and Nate on a sculpture they will use for a performance they are doing at our new gallery as somewhat of an opening ceremony for our maiden voyage. We were building out a piano with robotic arms and makes the most amazing and horrifying sounds! We have been working on some custom furniture pieces for San Antonio clients who wanted custom dining tables and a huge coffee table. We also are one day away from firing up our new CNC plasma table and router table. This is all starting to come together pretty fast. The gallery should be done and painted in another week or so and we can start getting a fun space made for local artists and visiting artists a laid back art forward space to show their work.
Working on a custom console table for the entrance to a new home this week. We are heating and bending some very thick steel bars for a flow feel to the steel. The custom torch setup we made with two torches cuts the heat time by half! We are also working on some hardwood dining tables out of black walnut and are covered with sawdust for a change. Our custom furniture part of the studio is winding down and sculptures have taken over. This is music to my heart as I have spent years getting us to a point where we can have time to experiment and play again with our art making. Worked on some projects downtown last week and then got to unwind with some out of town family and play around at the River Walk. Our art gallery is almost done just waiting on some electricity upgrades.
Got to visit our family and relax a bit. Our brother in law just got a new helicopter and took Autumn and I on a spin! Got in some fresh country air, out in some acreage without a care in the world for a few days. We have been playing with some colored lights for our current two sculptures we are supposed to install soon. Also built a major two torch art sculpture metal bending maham. Gearing up with some designs for another hotel project for downtown. Still waiting to get the art gallery built out for some upcoming art shows. If you need a spot to show your artwork drop us a line, we want to give back to the wonderful and supportive art community here in San
Antonio. Done with a pair of sculptures headed out soon for installation. About to install some surprise sculptures downtown to keep your eyes out for. Getting the art gallery built out to the next phase and almost done with it. Woke up to a flat tire this weekend so we lost a half day but are good to go now. We have almost perfected our inhouse chrome plating and silvering process to use on future projects. Public art projects are rolling along in the background. Getting geared up to do some more "Bloom" flowers to put in a couple more parks down here. Eagerly waiting for our new cnc router and plasma system to get here! Looks like we will be hosting several art shows in the gallery when it's done later this year. Cant wait to get some friends in here to guest curate some shows as well.
We are proud to announce that our sculpture studio just bought a CNC Plasma table and a CNC router with advanced software and killer hardware. We will soon be able to cut all of your projects and speed up lead time on public art projects which will get you out of panic artist mode on deadlines! We will also now have the ability to cut all types of wood, plastic, plexiglass, copper, aluminum, stainless steel, brass, steel and much more! We also now have the ability to take your actual hand drawn designs on paper and digitize it and scale it to any size you want! We can also engrave any of these materials in full detail with text or images. Our plasma systems are able to cut up to 1.5" plate. We are the first studio in the country to have this new version of this entire system, the quality of the cut will be up there with major large HD plasma and Laser. If you are planning your next big sculpture project or metal fabrication project drop us a line! We also have upgraded our shop to be able to paint two part industrial epoxy coatings with super clean dry air supply and killer guns and paint lines. Any color swatch you pick up at any local Sherwin Williams paint store we can do in outdoor super industrial paint and top coat.
We are sculpting two matching mirrored sculptures right now as a private commission for a client between San Antonio and Austin. These sculptures are made with a custom copper wire mesh and steel rings. They are about 8ft tall and should be around 700 pounds or so each. We are working on several public art commissions at the same time as well as some of our custom dining tables and custom furniture. Getting geared up to start our own inhouse metal engraving and cnc cutting. We are finally jumping into the present as far as shop technology goes. We are also getting ready for some public art San Antonio "Bloom" flowers by artist Leticia Huerta going as well. About to do the next steps to get the art gallery further finished.
Got some cool black scarface toilets for the welding studio so that's fun. We are almost done with our commissioned sculpture for a healthcare company and are ready for the chrome! The building and art gallery showroom is about to get painted and some new electrical work so we can light this thing! Working on some private commissions also trying to get them wrapped up for the new year. We got the steel obelisk installed at its new home in this festive friends backyard.
Got to clean these beautiful bronze statues downtown San Antonio at the San Fernando Cathedral. They were taken down to the raw bronze and patina was applied to bring them back to their full glory. We did some highlight work on Mary and half way through cleaning she looked very much like a dia de los Muertos sculpture when seen out of context! They ended up looking dark and beautiful and will last for years. Bronze restoration and repair work is always so interesting seeing the hand of the artist in the piece, we are so lucky to have pieces like this all over town.
Just shipped off a 1000 lb iron chandelier to Florida this past week. This thing will be 18 foot tall from the hanging point. Been working on several public art commissions for San Antonio Arts and Culture. We also have three private steel sculptures in the works with more pics to come. One is a modern contemporary steel sculpture as an artistic sculptural take on a private corporations logo to install and beautify the courtyard at a new location. We also have built two 12 foot tall steel and copper obelisks one of which will be for sale and the other is going in a private art collection. The copper top one will be available and will come with a large limestone block base if wanted. We are also making custom furniture and some luxury tables for a San Antonio Client. We have several hand built iron luxury light fixtures and chandeliers for a project in Austin coming up. Wanderlust Ironworks Texas metal art, Public art sculpture fabrication.
This week we did a steel obelisk outdoor sculpture for a friend and client and should be done this week and off to install it in her yard. We are getting ready to paint our building and get it looking a bit more current along with finishing the build out that has been on pause for the sculpture gallery and custom furniture showroom.
Finally made it to the corn maze at traders village in San Antonio. We got some good San Antonio fruit treats and then off to the studio to do a demo for a class. We had a class from Our Lady of the Lake here in San Antonio come out to ask questions about sculpture making and running an art business. Autumn did some power hammer demo action and we showed them some of the tricks of the trade. Autumn is also gearing up to make some sculpture for a client that commissioned a pair of sculptures for their new home. Working on a large three tier custom iron luxury chandelier at the same time.
We have a friend who is retired from the Art Restoration industry. She worked for many museums and private collectors over the years. So now she wants her very own large steel outdoor sculpture of an Obelisk. This one will be a beautiful corten steel leather brown so it will never need any attention over the years, just to enjoy seeing art outside in the yard. We also made two industrial bespoke cone shape end tables that will get a hardwood table top in black walnut, pics to come soon. We did some patina magic on a sign for USAA at the headquarters. We also did a table for another public artist that we just love to pieces. This table will go on a deck on her roof. Its top is actually an extra enamel panel she had made as a maquette of the sculpture she installed to add to the Public Art in San Antonio and the Department of Arts and Culture. Finally Autumn is working on some of her own sculpture pieces this week that will hang out in our new art gallery we are working on getting done soon. Headed up to Austin soon to check out the sculpture scene up there for fun. We also are working on some corporate art for a health care company that wanted something a bit more custom so they commissioned us to do their logo in a much more sculptural way. Hopefully these get to live at all the locations and could be a part of brand recognition.
We recently got done with a large public art installation in Dallas Texas. This one requested something simple and American in theme. These were large aluminum laser cut eagles we suspended with aircraft cable in the lobby of this Government building. The building was a DMV/ Passport center and was just about to re open after an extensive remodel. This place had a 55 foot high ceiling and the lift we had to get was crazy tall and shaky! Thanks to our mastermind friend Mike we got this thing in within one day! Ready to fabricate the next large public art sculpture that we are starting this week. If you have any custom sculpture ideas or have an idea you want to commission let us know! Took our first vacation in years to visit the grandparents and see the ocean. We got to spend days out on the beach looking at tide pools and critters and the beautiful woods and trees out there! Now that we are back from the Pacific North West area we are back in Texas and working on several more public art projects that are in the works for the City of San Antonio and the City of Dallas. We are building out a live work space and are moving into a tiny custom built luxury apartment we built. This past weekend was spent grinding and polishing the cement floors getting them ready for some stain and sealer to cap it off with a nice matte finish. We picked up a clearance bathroom fan that has a blue light and speakers with bluetooth. It is so fun and makes our bathroom feel like an Italian night club!
Well it is a big week around here. We are currently working on three major public art fabrication projects at once! One in Dallas Texas for a large government building lobby, one for a hotel in downtown San Antonio, One for a public park in San Antonio, and one for a company out of Florida that wanted a sculpture of their logo.
This week we are making a large hospitality art piece we were commissioned for a hotel downtown in San Antonio on the River Walk. This piece we now realize looks a whole lot like Soo Sunny Park, an amazing sculptor! We are also working on some of our own original pieces this week as well. We also saw this amazing glamour shot on a public message board at a local restaurant. The monster backyard gets tamed this week also. Big things coming soon!
